Here's just a small sampling of what you'll find in Northumberland:

  • Listen to world-class music at Westben Arts Festival Theatre in Campbellford where internationally-renowned professionals work side by side with local performers.
  • Visit the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope, Canada's as one of the last remaining atmospheric theatre offering year-round entertainment, films and theatre.
  • The Park Movie Theatre in Cobourg opened its doors in 1948 and is now a 400-seat entertainment venue renamed as The Park Playhouse.
  • Northumberland Players and The Victorian Operetta Society bring theatre to life in the architectural magnificence of Victoria Hall Concert Hall, Cobourg.
  • Northumberland Film Sundays works in affiliation with The Film Circuit, Toronto International Film Festival and is one of some 196 local community groups across Canada offering films in the community that would not normally be seen on the big screen.  You can watch these films on select Sundays.

Music by the following groups rings from halls and churches throughout the county:

Another lovely theatre built in the 1860s is the Victoria Hall Concert Hall in Cobourg.

Along with music and theatre, Victoria Hall is also home to the Art Gallery of Northumberland with two studios overlooking Lake Ontario.

The County is jeweled with a myriad of privately-owned galleries including the Townsend Art Gallery in Warkworth and the Colborne Art Gallery, a gallery of local artists' works at the historic former land registry office in the Village of Colborne.  Eclectic Mix in Warkworth displays and sells the works of regional painters, sculptors and glassblowers.

Artistic organizations like the Spirit of the Hills, a grassroots, non-profit arts association, showcase Northumberland's creative talents with year-round exhibitions and performances.

In Northumberland, the hills truly are alive with music, art and theatre!
