Northumberland's eclectic shopping and dining experiences are sure to be a highlight of any visit.
Antique, boutique and specialty shops abound, while dozens of restaurants and local food producers offer mouth-watering treats you won't be able to resist. If you're an antique-lover, Northumberland is the place to come. Port Hope alone has nearly 20 antique shops, and you'll find many more throughout the county, many housed in beautifully-restored heritage buildings.
Specialty shops in Cobourg and other communities are a treasure trove of unique merchandise and gift ideas, while studio tours give you an opportunity to visit the homes of local artists, see them at work, and purchase their creations.
Once you've finished shopping, enjoy a delicious meal at one of Northumberland's many family restaurants, tea rooms or fine dining establishments. Many serve up regionally-produced foods, or with our new Farm Gate Guide in hand, you can go straight to the gate!
Don't forget to take home a tasty delectable from a local food outlet, whether it's specialty cheese from the Empire Cheese and Butter Co-op, sweet delicacies from the World's Finest Chocolate Outlet, both in Campbellford, or healthy bison meat from Glover's Market in Warkworth.
Northumberland has a reputation for growing great apples! Nearly every variety imaginable is available from our many orchards, while local apple businesses such as the Big Apple in Colborne offer sumptuous pies, dumplings and other goodies.
