Mountain Biking (forested trails)
|
What a great mix of twists and turns we have for you in Northumberland! And it's all because of our hills. Refer to the trails portion of our Outdoor Adventure Map so you can get started. The Ganaraska and the Northumberland Forests are two highly-recommended mountain biking locations: the latter allowing use at no charge. You can also enjoy an exhilarating hour-long trek downhill through a fairly level trail of the Northumberland Forest, south along a few attractive back roads, then into the hamlet of Baltimore for a picnic at the Ball's Mill Conservation Area. Call 1-866-401 3278 for a free topographical map. The Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area north of Brighton has 12 km of rugged trails with no fees attached. Word has it that the Esker Trail is a good one to take. The Ontario Biking Association enjoyed this area enough to help with biking workshops in the past. There is a covered picnic area alongside a scenic creek. |
